128 ready-to-play, high resolution sampling instrument – preset sounds of Alpha Juno, Roland’s digitally controlled analog classic.

In the mid-eighties Roland produced an affordable analog polysynth family with digital control and MIDI for the masses called Alpha Juno. All the members had the same sound engine, the difference was in the physical presence: Juno 1 was a keyboard instrument with no velocity, Juno 2 was a keyboard, too, but with velocity and MKS-50 packed everything into a 1U high rack module with no keyboard.

Sonically the new engine was based on the already successful predecessor, the Juno family. Juno 6, 60 and 106 were really desirable instruments, despite their very simple synthesizing structure: they all had one oscillator only with a suboscillator, a filter and two envelope generators.

Alpha Juno lacked the immediate sound editing features all the previous Juno synths had – it was replaced by a big dial called Alpha-dial – later an almost-compulsory standard editing tool on many-many synthesizers. But Alphas’ sound generators were very close to the legendary Juno sound using the same structure, and almost-the-same electronics. The difference is sometimes indistinguishable.

We sampled the MKS-50 module from the family with special care. We didn’t use any artificial loops to shorten the samples, instead we sampled the sounds as long as possible. We sampled all the programs with three semitones intervals, and 3-5 velocity levels if needed.

You can test some patches from the Juno package by downloading a demo of 5 great patches freely. They work perfectly with no restriction.
