Artificial strings of the late 80s

Free download

Early digital days had a special mood. Much perfect instrument reproduction than before, but still a lot of imperfectness in dynamics or liveliness – nowadays we like these negative-sounding characteristics since they mark the sound of the age. Instant preset program classics were used extensively in global hits and if you want to recreate the feeling of the late 80s you need them.

Our MechaStrings selection contains the era’s best string sounds for from Roland’s D line (10, 50, 70), plus the compulsory U110, some nice programs from Korg’s DW line, a few E-mu Proteus programs, Yamaha’s FB01 FM module and the very best of early Kawais, K1 and K5. All instruments were sampled directly from their output with no processing.

We don’t use artificial loops to shorten the samples, instead we sample the sounds as long as possible. We sampled all the programs with three semitones intervals, and 3-5 velocity levels if needed.
